How to care for your new UPVC Windows and Doors

How to care for your new UPVC Windows and Doors

UPVC doors and windows are low maintenance but are not maintenance free.

For best results, clean your UPVC product using a wet lint free cloth or sponge with a non-abrasive detergent. Never use a dry cloth/sponge as this can scratch. Do not use an abrasive or corrosive product. For any stubborn stains, please use a specialist UPVC cleaner designed to remove stubborn stains without damaging the UPVC.

UPVC doors and windows are fitted with high quality hardware which is virtually maintenance free, however it is important that you check all moving parts twice yearly. Lubricate window and door mechanisms with WD40 and use Petroleum Jelly to keep the metal protected.

UPVC sash windows will move more freely for longer with an application of WD40 on the runners.

Window handles need to be checked to ensure that they are operating properly and that they are not difficult to use.

If the doors or windows are not closing properly, use a vacuum cleaner in the hard to see areas in case dirt or grit is causing a problem.

If a problem persists a callout by our service department may be required. Please contact us to discuss.
